Pride Comes to Palm Springs

Palm Springs Annual Pride weekend kicks off this Thursday with 3 full days of events, parties, and a parade celebrating the LGBT community in the Palm Springs area. The weekend begins on November 3 with the Viva La Vida Street Party on Arenas Road. There will be live music and an outdoor beverage lounge for those 21 and over from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

The 2-day street festival opens at 10:00 am on Saturday in downtown Palm Springs where Palm Canyon will become a pedestrian village of artists, musicians, and vendors. Beverage gardens will be available for adults and The Children’s Headquarters offers games and crafts for kids. The day will host nearly a dozen other events including a Pride 5k, a Viva La Vida Pool Party, and ends with the Arenas Road Block Party beginning at 6:00 pm.

On Sunday morning Pride goers will be out in full force for brunch up and down Palm Canyon. Dish Creative and 849 will be offering special Pride Parade seatings to enjoy mimosas and the highly anticipated Pride Parade. If Drag Brunch is more your speed, be sure to head over to Rio Azul for $5 house margaritas and $10 bottomless mimosas.

The highlight of the weekend is the annual Pride Parade, which steps off at 10:00 am Sunday morning in the Uptown Design District of Palm Springs (Tachevah & Palm Canyon). The parade typically draws crowds over 50,000 so plan on arriving early to find the perfect spot to watch the themed floats roll by. Once the parade wraps up, be sure to head back to the Pride Festival downtown for more crafts, music, and support Greater Palm Springs Pride, a 501C non-profit dedicated to the history, diversity, and future prosperity of the Palm Springs LGBT community.
