Whether you consider yourself a movie aficionado or are just looking for a unique experience during your stay, plan to make your way to Palm Springs for next week’s “Short Fest.” It kicks off on Tuesday, June 19th. The annual event is a highly competitive competition for short filmmakers hoping to be considered for awards like The Oscars and the BAFTAs.
So, what is a short film? The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences define a short film as anything not long enough to be considered a feature film and generally less than 40 minutes long.
The Palm Springs Short Fest is in its 24th year and will show over 300 short films over the course of 7 days. Those attending a short fest screening can expect to view between 3 and 10 films in a curated program with a common theme. After each screening, there will be a Q&A with filmmakers to enhance your experience.
Tickets and passes go on sale Wednesday, June 13th and are available online, by phone, or in person at the box office. All screenings will take place at the Camelot Theater on Baristo Road in Palm Springs.
For more information including a schedule of screenings be sure to visit the Short Fest website.
